O’Africa ®

Your oldest inhabitants, yet so full of resources

Has left me to wonder the treasure beneath

That beautiful red earth soil,

that empowering heat that bonds you to nature

and my desire to know you within

From dust to earth I have arrived

With gleaming eyes and skin as black as a coal

With my first glimpse of Africa, my mind wondered

Am I already a victim of desire, of wars, of hunger

No one knows, yet it’s easier to predict.

Am I apart of those starving and desperate souls?

Awaiting their last verdict of life

With graves already written on their fate

Am I already the batches of infamy?

With the same scars of broken, burdened and outworn destiny.

O’Africa so rich

Yet so corrupt with senseless war

Your ammunitions of destructions

Has hacked lives away

The smell of death has filled our land

With bodies of our love ones

O’Africa my cherished home

The proud land of our forefathers

One day you will rise and shine again

Have faith and live in peace my love.
