This song is about a man who's deeply in love with a woman. Ironically, his lover have lost her sense of direction in life! She is badly hurt from her past, confused and screwed from her dignity.

She believed to have lost faith in men and the world, so she wanted to go elsewhere, a ''path', a destination. She chooses to go to the 'highway to insanity' where love have no struggle and issues, life is simply crazier and drugs can cure and numb her pains.

The highway to insanity for me also means, it's where all bad stays bad indefinetely, all hopes, becomes hopeless, all love dies, all once a saint becomes evil and fears are lived every single day. The choice of the highway to insanity word for me is between living and dying.
